Super Falcons midfielder Deborah Abiodun will miss the remainder of the season after suffering an injury, her National Women’s Soccer League, NWSL, club Washington Spirit has confirmed.
The 22-year-old is expected to undergo surgery this week after initially being projected to spend about two months on the sidelines.
However, Washington Spirit has now moved Abiodun from the 45-day injury list to the season-ending injury list, ruling her out for the rest of the campaign.
Abiodun was a key member of the Nigerian squad at the 2026 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco, where she featured prominently for the Super Falcons.
The former Dallas Trinity midfielder is also expected to miss both legs of Nigeria’s 2028 Olympic Games qualifying fixture against Comoros next month.
The development is a major setback for both Abiodun and the Super Falcons as Nigeria continues preparations for the Olympic qualifying campaign.
