Kwara South APC Leaders Endorse Muheeba Dankaka for Senate Ahead of Primaries, Demand Free & Fair Contest

A powerful coalition of party elders and opinion leaders has officially endorsed the former Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) Dr. Muheeba Adenike Dankaka as their preferred candidate ahead of the Senatorial Primary election.

Addressing journalists in Ilorin on Sunday evening, the stakeholders declared their stance ahead of the crucial shadow election scheduled to take place on Monday, May 18, while emphasizing that a fair process is vital to maintaining the party’s dominance in the zone ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group reminded the party hierarchy of Kwara South’s strategic importance to the ruling party, noting that the senatorial district controls a massive share of the state’s political map.

“Kwara South remains a major political bloc in the state with 83 out of the 193 wards in Kwara State and seven of the 16 local government areas,” the leaders pointed out, stressing that the zone’s size deserves absolute transparency in the conduct of its primaries.

“Our appeal today is simple, sincere and patriotic: let the right things be done. We collectively, as members of Kwara South Senatorial District, raise our voices to make it known that Dr. Muheebat Adenike Dankaka is the preferred candidate for the Senate in our district.” they added.

In choosing the former FCC boss, the opinion leaders described her as a proven administrator with an unblemished record of grassroots impact, public sector integrity, and human capital development. Acknowledging her proven track record, Youth & Welfare Focus as key reasons for the Endorsement.

The group took a swipe at rival politicians who are seeking higher office despite what they described as abysmal failure in previous assignments.

Warning against avoidable errors that could splinter the party or cause post-election resentment, the elders urged the electoral committee to avoid any actions capable of creating deep divisions.

They insisted that the directive of the APC National Chairman regarding the deployment of direct primaries must be strictly adhered to where a consensus candidate has not been reached.

According to them, letting every card-carrying member vote is the only way to guarantee internal democracy and ensure the party emerges more unified for the main 2027 ballot.
