Police Arrest Anambra Man Allegedly Travelling to Oyo for Revenge Killing

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a man allegedly travelling from Anambra State to avenge his brother’s death, recovering a pistol and a cartridge from him.

The suspect was intercepted by operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol during a stop-and-search operation along Ife Road while travelling in a commercial bus.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olushola Olayinka, disclosed this, saying the suspect’s responses during questioning suggested he was travelling to Oyo State to carry out a revenge killing.

In a video of his interrogation, the suspect said he was working in Benue State when he received information that his brother had died after allegedly being killed in a school in Oka.

He added that their mother died a few weeks after his brother’s death.

The suspect said he later received information that the person he believed was responsible for his brother’s death was living in Oyo State, prompting him to travel there to find him.

He also disclosed that he purchased the firearm from a friend for ₦20,000 and admitted to belonging to the Vikings confraternity.

However, he said he could not confirm whether his deceased brother belonged to a cult group because they attended different schools.

Olayinka said the suspect was undergoing investigation to establish his connections and determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged revenge plot.

The police spokesperson commended the officers involved in the operation, adding that investigations were ongoing.
