Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has revealed that she sometimes breaks down in tears behind closed doors while dealing with the pressures of fame and public scrutiny.
The actress made this disclosure during an interview with CNN, where she spoke about the emotional challenges that come with being in the public eye, despite maintaining a cheerful appearance.
Akindele explained that there are moments when the pressure becomes overwhelming, forcing her to retreat into her room to cry before finding the strength to move forward.
“I cry. I lock myself in the room, cry, break down, and hit the bed. But I just pick myself up and come back to life,” she said.
She also disclosed that public criticism sometimes makes her question her personal decisions and worry about how people perceive her.
“Sometimes I tell myself, you’ve made a mistake again. How are people going to judge you?” she added.
However, the actress said she has learnt to overcome such moments and continue with her life without allowing public criticism to define her.
Akindele’s remarks offer a glimpse into the emotional struggles that celebrities face behind their public images, particularly when dealing with constant scrutiny and expectations from fans.
