Tinubu Says Allah Gives and Takes Political Power, Reflects on Ka’abah Visit

President Bola Tinubu has declared that Allah is the ultimate giver and taker of political power, saying authority can be withdrawn from one person and given to another.

Tinubu made the remark on Monday after performing Umrah in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, where he said he prayed for wisdom and resilience to continue serving Nigerians.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President reflected on his visit to the Holy Ka’abah, describing the opportunity to pray inside the sacred site as a historic experience.

Speaking on the responsibility of public office, Tinubu said anyone entrusted with authority must use it responsibly, stressing that power ultimately belongs to Allah.

“There is no other God but Almighty Allah. He is the giver and the taker. He owns power and authority,” he said.

He added that authority could be taken away from anyone who failed to use it according to divine instructions and transferred to another person.

The President also disclosed that he prayed for wisdom and resilience to continue leading the country, expressing confidence that his prayers had been answered.

Tinubu thanked Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for granting him and members of his delegation access to pray inside the Ka’abah.

He further reaffirmed his commitment to national development, saying he remained determined to pursue prosperity and improve the country.

On the economy, Tinubu described Nigeria’s economic foundation as solid, adding that the country had emerged from a difficult period.

He also stressed the need to invest in young Nigerians, warning that leaders must secure the future of the next generation to leave a lasting legacy.

Members of the presidential delegation included Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi; Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate; governors from Borno, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kaduna, Yobe and Kwara states; and business leaders Abdulsamad Rabiu and Wale Tinubu.
